Abu Dhabi Tourist Guide Training and Licensing Programme

DCT Abu Dhabi offers a complete training programme for those seeking to obtain an official licence for the tourist guiding profession in the emirate. The Tourism Guide Training and Licensing Programme is in line with DCT Abu Dhabi’s efforts to upgrade the quality of all tourism services in the emirate, invest in workforce capacity building, and effectively and impactfully present the emirate’s touristic and cultural experiences to visitors.

The hybrid programme combines online training and practical on-site training, and provides applicants with extensive and detailed knowledge about Abu Dhabi, as well as crucial soft skills including communication, presentation techniques, and group management.

To obtain a licence, applicants are required to commit to a self-study schedule, pass a knowledge assessment, attend a practical session on guiding skills, and take part in a final assessment.

Applicants who successfully pass the assessments receive an Abu Dhabi Tourist Guide Licence which is valid for two years. During this time they are allowed to provide their services and sign contracts with tourism and destination management establishments.
